MEET LUKE - OWNER AND HEAD CHEF

"My passion for cooking started as a 14 year old boy. I went for a job, weekends and evenings and I soon found I loved the busy kitchens, the smells of cooking food and learning different skills all the time. I was gutting fish, opening oysters and peeling potatoes (lots and lots of potatoes). Since then I have never looked back and I have been working in kitchens for the last 25 years. Over the years I have worked in many different styles of kitchens serving food inspired from lots of different cultures and countries. I wanted to learn and take in something from every chef I worked with.

 

My dream has always been to buy my own place, so here we are with Salt and Light born in 2016! My passion now is to serve food cooked simply with good ingredients. We have a varied breakfast menu with items like full English, Royales, Kedgerees, We also have simple bits for lunch like sandwiches and grilled baguettes or there is our lunch board that changes regularly with things like Crab Monsieur, burgers and local fish.
